Does RFE contain built-in reset, or external /Reset chip a "must" for a radio used in custom build boards?

You can reset the RFE by using pin 23 which is an active low input.

The question was - is it necessary to use external reset chip?
What happens if we do not wire RFE pin 23 to anywhere?

No external connection to the RFE reset pin is required. The RFE will correctly reset itself on power-up.

The RF Engine has it's own internal Power On Reset hardware. No additional "reset" chip is required to use the RF Engine.
In addition to "resetting itself" at power up, the RF Engine can also be externally reset by other devices, if you connect them to the RESET_L pin (pin 23 out of 24).
This is sometimes used when the RF Engine is acting as a "slave" to another processor. It allows you to reset the RF Engine without having to power cycle the entire board.
