We have started running Portal version 2.2.17. When upgrading the SNAP firmware, the Synapse RF engines flashed in correctly with SnapV2.2.11.sfi.

We flashed in two RF engines correctly. The Panasonic 4561's will not flash. Both the Panasonic and Synapse units are using UART1 to communicate with Portal.

The Pan4561 can act as a bridge correctly but cannot flash. Any ideas or comments would be greatly appreciated. Thank you for looking into this matter.

The older Portal, 2.1.22 also was not be able to flash the PAN4561.

We are able to use Portal to "Firmware Upgrade" Synapse RF Engines, PAN4555, and PAN4561 modules.

My guess is that you are trying to put RF Engine firmware into non-RF Engine modules.

I especially think this is likely since I don't think we have posted any versions of Portal that contained the "alternate" firmware images (yet).

Files meant to be downloaded into PAN4555 or PAN4561 modules will start with "MC1321x" (when we post them).

The latter half of last week was spent testing Portal 2.2.18, which contains cores for both RF Engines and MC1321x-based modules (it may contain ZIC2410 images too, but I am not 100% sure).

The first part of this week we will be sanity-testing the various firmware images. If they all check out we will post Portal 2.2.18 to the forum.

The other possibility is that you don't have BootLoaders in your PAN4561s.

Portal does not talk directly to the FLASH EPROM, it talks serially to a BootLoader program that is supposed to be in the "top" of the chip.

If you have someho gotten your hands on 4561 modules without a BootLoader, the short term solution is to use a BDM FLASH Programmer to "burn" the raw S19 file in.
