how do I control the Requesting 'Device Status' request by portal. It has no saveNvParam(20,0) option?
This is from the Event log
2008-12-01 02:35:18 Sent Broadcast Requesting 'Device Status', waiting 3 seconds for responses

I don't understand the question. Function saveNvParam() is a SNAPpy function, not a Portal function.
The Event Log message above is Portal telling you that *IT* (Portal) sent a broadcast requesting the 'Device Status'.
Please try rephrasing your question, and we will take another shot at answering it.

Can I tell (control) Portal when send a broadcast requesting the 'Device Status' , inorder to reduce RF traffic?
If its not easy with portal, what about Gateway?

Portal only sends broadcasts requesting device status if you issue a PING or have the node watcher enabled. Are you looking to change the frequency at when the node watcher asks?
