My CPU setup would not allow me to see the serial port on my system with Windows XP Pro. I made a duel booting system with XP Pro and Win98SE. Win98SE was able to see the Coordinator on Serial Port 1 where it was connected. This is fine when I run the Ver1 of Portal however Ver2 loaded under Win98SE does not even come up as it does in XP Pro that still has a problem seeing the COM1 Port. Got any ideas?

Portal Pro currently supports only Windows 2000 or later. Are you able to use COM1 under Windows XP with other applications on that machine?

I have tried all things to attain recognition with Ver 1 Portal under XP Pro like: turning FIFO off, running & verifying other programs can see it & they do, I always reboot to clear any resident programs that may try and take the port before a retry of Portal Ver 1. The version 2 does come up but see's no COM1 port but will work with the USB port. Being the same hardware machine I even tried the Hyper Terminal and I was able to see things like other Serial devices so I think its some driver issue. Some one was telling me there was a trace file that generates in the directory when exicution starts and that may help. Can you remember what that file was called? Note: I did not install Portal 2 in the same directory as Version 1, so this is a clean load. I put the Version 2 into a sub called "Portal Pro" in the program files sub.
Note: This is some 30 Min later and I am editing this response: I found a modem hiding in my system that is a virtual modem with no hardware. I was able to dissable it and it is now communicating with the Portal Pro on Com1. Sorry for the sacre and thanks.

No problem, glad you were able to fix the issue. To answer your question, while in Portal Pro to display the log file you can issue the command: root.displayTraceFile()
