Do you have any plans to provide stand alone firmware update program or a solution for gateway/client programs?
Of course, there is always Portal program, with all the options.
But the smaller - simpler program would be better for the end user, required to update RFE firmware somewhere in very remote location, and having problems reading English.

Are you looking for a stand-alone GUI program or command line program?

Smaller GUI, I think. Something for most popular OS and PC, which is XP & Vista I guess. Search for system COM port option would be great, since most PCs do not have RS232 built-in, user has to install USB-Serial port, and those ports end up in higher numbers, like COM16 for example...

and having problems reading English.
Would the stand alone firmware updater need to include a way for you to provide alternate translations of any text that is displayed?

No need for other language support, just simple English names would do. Like "File" "Open" "Upload" "exit" etc.

In the next version of Portal 2.1 we will include a stand alone EXE of the flash upgrader.

I think this would be a good feature. No time pressure on this option. My concern more about "Global Ping" and DATA mode serial bug fix in the upcoming release.

Did the smaller-simpler version of Portal ever get released as a programming option? Not only would it be great to have for field updates, it'd be great to have for production programming.
We need a simple method to use a USB port to update firmware AND scripts for devices. Maybe even the process of having the program ask for the firmware AND/OR script files to be programmed, and then the program will handle the firmware first and then the script file without any additional user interaction.

Included with Portal 2.1.22 and later, there is a standalone version of the Flash Upgrader. It does not however, support uploading a SNAPpy script with the firmware.
